An initiative like Rainforest ECObank is a very important thing to make the dream of reforesting Mata Atlantica (the Atlantic Rainforest) come true. This is an initiative that will allow local farmers, small farmers, to make a living by developing seedlings and seeds in order to replant the forest. So it's a truly sustainable enterprise because it meets social, environmental and economic criteria. And, it's an initiative that's not only good for our county, Brazil, but for the whole world since we are all trying to avert the worst problems of climate change.
So I would highly recommend and already thank you for your support of this initiative.

Rainforest ECObank is a cooperative effort between US and Brazilian NGOs and social businesses.
Our Mission is to inspire sustainable enterprises in rural areas, empower social justice and connect communities with innovative green companies through long term commercial relationships, while replanting the most diverse and endangered rainforest on the planet from seed to seed.
Our Goals are to sponsor training in sustainable native seed collection practices, organic methods of tree and shrub propagation, and permaculture reforestation methods. We will document the process by video to spread stories of existing rainforest renewal successes in isolated rural areas.
Our Objectives are employment and reforestation. New skills will give slash/burn farm families a source of income by selling seeds to the nursery we will establish (funds are being raised by our for-profit company), and the opportunity to work for the nursery. A portion of each crop will be given to small holders for their family's land reforestation. A priority will be given to riparian forests in order to help with water protection.
